Edwards to endorse Obama

CNN tells us that John Edwards, my first choice for Democratic presidential nominee, will endorse Barack Obama today during a campaign event in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Personally, I welcome any happening that might bring us closer to the demise of Clinton’s candidacy. I’m still a bit disappointed that Edwards won’t be our next president, but he’d make a damn fine attorney general. *Nudge nudge, wink wink, say n’more say n’more*

Update: There’s video of the Edwards endorsement here courtesy of Crooks and Liars.

Yeah, Edwards as AG wouldn’t be half bad, but I could see him as Secretary of HUD as well. Sure, it’s not as glamorous as AG, but it’d give him a chance to really get in the trenches and work on tackling poverty, especially in our nation’s urban areas.

I read an article yesterday (which I can’t now find!) saying that while Edwards publically denies interest in the VP slot, privately he would be interested in that … or in following in the footsteps of his hero RFK and being Attorney General.

I could hang with that, Zach. I’m jumping the gun in a big way, though. First, Obama’s gotta (1) get himself nominated and (2) overcome the well-ensconced Republican election fraud machine in the general election.

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Edwards were interested in the job, but I don’t see Obama offering it. He’ll have enough to overcome without taking on “baggage” from the failed Kerry campaign.
