If the jackboot fits, ram it up a dissident’s ass.

I was going to title this post “Pigs v. People,” but that would be over the top even by my appallingly lax standards. So it’s a good thing I didn’t write that, eh?

Seems this couple in West Asheville, N.C. were more than a little disheartened over the way things are going in our nation. To show their displeasure they hung an American flag upside down (a distress signal) outside their home. Attached to the flag was a picture of the president with the words “out now” emblazoned on it.

All too predictably, two sheriff’s deputies came to the door one morning and told the couple they’ll be arrested for violating a state criminal statute making it unlawful to “desecrate” a U.S. flag, unless they take the flag down. The couple complied, but the deputies weren’t ready to put away their dicks just yet. They insisted on seeing the couple’s identification. The couple refused and went back inside the house.

The cops, Johnsons no doubt swollen to their full 3.2 inches in length by that time, proceeded to break in, rough up the husband, drag him into the front yard, force him to the ground and handcuff him. The couple was arrested and charged with assaulting the cops, resisting arrest and desecrating the flag. Sordid details here

Unless the U.S. Supreme Court overruled Texas v. Johnson and United States v. Eichman without telling me — in which case Wayne Brady might just hafta choke a bitch — there’s no such thing as an enforceable “flag desecration” statute.

Don’t you just love these down-home Southron values? Freedom is what it’s all about. Freedom to toe the line, that is. Vary from the straight and narrow, though, and a couple of uniformed mouth-breathing troglodyte thugs with badges, guns, tasers and clubs will come to your house and kick your nonconformist hippie ass.

wow that is some scary shit. once upon a time i was almost arrested for refusing to show a cop my id for no reason.

well, i didnt actually refuse, i just asked him why and he said that he didnt have to tell me.

    but yeah, desecrating the flag.

how much do you think the couple is going to sue for?

    from another news article

“A Buncombe County sheriff’s deputy acting on a complaint from a fellow National Guardsman issued the charge Wednesday at the Brevard Road home of Mark and Deborah Kuhn.”

so one good ol boy sister fucker called up another one and two people exercising their basic rights are in jail shortly there after.

    awesome

    also

“Because the Kuhns live in Asheville, the usual procedure would call for referring the complaint to Asheville police, he said.”

they shouldnt even have been fucking with the citizens in the first place

    Good to see ya, bey!

how much do you think the couple is going to sue for?

My guess: a lot. These folks probably have civil rights lawyers lining up around the block to represent them. Here’s hoping they put that sheriff’s department out of business.
