Latest Boston Bomb Hoax Not a Bomb, Not Even a Hoax

The January 2007 non-bomb non-hoax Mooninite publicity stunt was ludicrous enough, but the absurdity of this shit transcends all description. The Head Thug in Charge says the woman in question is “lucky to be in a cell as opposed to the morgue.” It’s hard to say at this point what’s more appalling, the incident itself or shitstorm pouring forth from legions of ‘net denizens siding with the authorities.

Welcome to George W. Bush’s America, where kneejerk irrationality has become a way of life and we have nothing to fear but being insufficiently afraid.

Never forget.

    Crap. “I don’t [see] much unreasonable…”

What’s this I read about Play-Doh, though? Like, she had some in her hands and was moulding it? Not sure I have the facts straight, but that would surely be relevant had it happened.

I mean, given that you have security people at an airport, it does seem like roughly the sort of thing you want to have pique their interest. The real point on which to focus is the commentary from police Maj. Scott Pare, to the effect that she’s lucky not to have been killed outright. I don’t much unreasonable in pulling her aside and having a little WTF? based on her circuit board, battery, and gooey stuff. But the authorities’ apparently vast and shameless sense of the entitlement to shoot citizens as a matter of course, when t’rr’r is implicated, is another thing altogether.
